Please join us for this remarkable, brand-new event – Behaviour and Communication Magic, an experiential, practical, information-packed day with behaviour and communication dynamics expert, David Charalambous, ecological health scientist, Robert Verkerk PhD and clinical psychoneuroimmunologist, Meleni Aldridge.

By the end of the day, you’ll understand what drives us, why we see things the way we do and how to gain more control and sovereignty in our lives, as well as how we can influence, and communicate better with others, both positively and ethically. This workshop is for everyone, but if you’re a health professional or you work with people, it’s going to add a number of additional tools to your toolbox.a

Creating a metabolic reset for health, longevity and natural weight management

The learning aims for this course are to:

  • To understand the intimate relationship between our genetic blueprint, food and metabolism to (re-)establish metabolic flexibility
  • To identify key evolutionary pathways involved in metabolic health and body system function, and how they are impacted by what and how we eat
  • To engage with, and embrace the concept of, ‘food as powerful medicine’ to reset and re-tune metabolic health and resilience
  • To recognise the impact of allergens and anti-nutrients and the role they play in weight management
  • To introduce a practical, evidence-based, 12-step process for switching fuel systems in the body, which is health-creating, as well as weight-managing

Lifestyle Medicine 101: Universal Medicine for the 21st Century

The learning aims for this course are to:

  • To introduce the emerging discipline of Lifestyle Medicine (in the context of Preventative Medicine, Integrative Medicine, Precision Medicine, Complementary (and Alternative) Medicine, and Conventional Medicine)
  • To demonstrate the extent and nature of the burden of non-communicable and metabolic diseases on human health and health systems
  • To learn to interpret health, resilience and disease states from systems biology, ecological and evolutionary perspectives
  • To learn how to structure and assess determinants and risk factors of lifestyle diseases
  • To identify key lifestyle factors that contribute to multi-system dysregulation and metabolic diseases
  • To compare top-down public health policy and messaging with bottom-up individual engagement in Lifestyle Medicine (guided and self-care)
  • To learn clinically verified ways of motivating and engaging people in behaviour and environmental change
  • To understand key tenets of Lifestyle Medicine prescription, potential obstacles and barriers, as well as monitoring of compliance and outcome measurement
