- Big Food’s at it again. Some of the biggest food conglomerates have joined forces under a slick new front group called Americans for Ingredient Transparency (AFIT)—a name designed to sound pro-consumer while doing the exact opposite. AFIT’s real mission? To dismantle hard-won state laws brought in as part of the Make America Health Again (MAHA) movement, that protect people from harmful additives and toxic chemicals, to roll everything back and concentrate it under more easily manipulated federal laws. If they succeed, it could open the door for toxic ingredients to remain in our food supply. This is not about transparency, it’s about concentrating power to better control our food systems. The Defender takes a look at the coordinated attacks pushing back against Robert F Kennedy Jr’s groundbreaking MAHA movement to make Americans healthy again.
- The EAT-Lancet Planetary Diet may clash with human biology. A new paper critiquing the diet, published in Nutrition & Metabolism, finds its high-carb, low-animal-fat approach risks nutrient deficiencies and metabolic stress, ignoring our evolution as fat-adapted omnivores. Evidence suggests that diets emphasising moderate protein, higher healthy fats, low carbohydrate, nutrient-dense animal foods, seasonal and minimally processed foods and circadian-aligned eating better supports metabolic flexibility, chronic disease prevention, and overall health and wellbeing.

- Twenty-eight scientists in Mexico are calling on the government to introduce regulations that will allow the differentiation of gene edited (GE) organisms from ‘traditional’ GMOs using the go-to industry line that gene editing is no different from that of natural mutation essentially giving GE organisms a free pass from safety testing and other checks and balances. Other scientists disagree, warning about the inherent risks from such technologies that can’t be known until they’ve been unleashed, by which time it will be too late to rein in the consequences.
- Combining nature and music is good for the soul. A new study published in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, has confirmed that bringing music and nature together can improve emotional, mental and physical health due to our ability to engage multiple senses at the same time. The best bit? Integrating music with nature is free and taps into our innate healing ability.
- The latest ‘Health of the Nation’ survey from the UK Health Food Manufacturers’ Association (HFMA) reveals that the percentage of UK adults taking supplements daily has reduced from a pandemic high of 71% to 64% as people return to their normal routines. The report notes that supplement use among younger adults has risen, many of whom get their health information via social media and its myriad health influencers. Despite 67% describing themselves as healthy, only 22% meet government recommendations for fruit and veg; and 21% for fibre intake, which are far from ideal in terms of dietary advice for vibrant health and wellbeing.

- Memory problems in children and adolescents in Sweden and Norway has grown at an alarming rate since 2006. A new study published in the Archives of Clinical and Biomedical Research found memory issues in children aged 5-19 saw an 8.5 fold increase in Norway from 2006-2024, while in Sweden children of the same age diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment increased nearly 60 fold from 2010-2024. The study finds that these trends coincided with a substantial increase in children’s exposure to microwave radiofrequency (RF) radiation, particularly following the introduction of 4G and 5G and the proliferation of mobile phone use, wireless headsets and WiFi.
ANH-USA Update
- The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is trying to override communities’ ability to block new 5G infrastructure, by removing regulatory barriers that give communities control over what infrastructure’s being installed in their neighbourhoods. The move once again favours big telecom’s profits over people’s safety. Read more and take action…
- The US is driving the use of ‘precision fermentation’ under the guise of it being the “Future of Food”. Precision fermented ingredients are entering the food chain at an unprecedented rate yet they’re neither labelled nor declared even though there are huge question marks about their long-term safety. Meer te weten komen about the infiltration of our food systems by new to nature ingredients with little to no safety testing.
Free Speech Threats
- Sixty-five countries, including the US and Canada, have signed a new UN Convention against Cybercrime. A treaty critics say could threaten privacy, online research, and free speech. While UN Secretary-General António Guterres calls it a “powerful, legally binding instrument” to fight cybercrime. Groups like Human Rights Watch and the Electronic Frontier Foundation warn that its vague language could enable more oversight and surveillance of online activity and censorship. Tech giants including Meta and Microsoft have echoed those concerns, labelling it a potential “surveillance treaty.” Supporters claim it will help combat scams and ransomware, but opponents fear it could be used to monitor citizens, prosecute security researchers and suppress dissent.
- In the UK, the is government getting ready to extend the reach of the Online Safety Act (OSA) with additional rules that push online platforms toward pre-emptive censorship. The amendment would require tech companies to block material before users see it to stop “cyberflashing” and content “encouraging or assisting serious self-harm”. In reality this will likely lead to increased surveillance of online content and over-censorship where legitimate content is also blocked.
Post-covid related
- Written in collaboration with Andy Wakefield, a new preprint study from the McCullough Foundation sets out the determinants of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) by considering vaccine and non-vaccine determinants together. Amongst the potential determinants of new onset ASD are premature birth, genetic variants, in-utero drug exposure, gut-brain axis issues and childhood vaccinations. The authors of the study conclude the totality of evidence supports the theory that multiple factors converge to put children at risk of developing ASD and that the most significant modifiable risk factor for ASD are childhood vaccines. - Een recente studie gepubliceerd in JAMA Netwerk Open, claims receiving a covid mRNA shot when pregnant doesn’t cause birth defects. However, dig into the data and you’ll find the authors have used slight of hand with the data to come to their conclusions. To come to their conclusion, the authors only considered live births, leaving out data revealing babies with severe defects leading to termination of the pregnancy or stillbirth from the analysis. James Lyons-Weiler PhD examines the study to explain why the omission presents a danger to pregnant women and prevents them from making properly informed decisions about covid vaccination during pregnancy.
- A recent analysis by Canadian immunologist Byram Bridle PhD finds that Pfizer and BioNTech withheld key biodistribution data—showing how parts of their covid vaccine spread in mice—from documents submitted to the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA), while providing more complete data to Japanese regulators. The omitted images, from animal studies only, and graphs allegedly revealed vaccine components reaching organs such as the kidneys and adrenal glands, raising questions about transparency and regulatory oversight by US authorities. Bridle and Dr Robert Malone, who released the report, argue that the FDA submission appeared edited to minimise the apparent spread of mRNA from the vaccine. The Epoch Times has full details of a serious breach of scientific integrity and its cover-up.
